Our civic league is now in the midst of its membership. Good news: You don’t need to wait for a board member to knock on your door, you can join or renew online by simply visiting the “Join”page on our new website eastsidecivicleague.org.
Our annual dues, at $5 annually and $12 for three years, are among the least expensive of any civic league in Norfolk, which is interesting considering the fact we have delivered more results possibly than any other civic league in the city. Our proven results are:
- funding for a new library/recreation center in the proposed capital improvement budget;
- Preservation of the Easton Preschool as a school – now no more worries about more high-density apartments or offices landing in our neighborhood;
- Regular clean-ups along the light rail line and Military Gardens
- Compelling speakers at meetings – such as the mayor and city manager, for example;
- Speed cushions on Sellger Drive;
- Communications resources such as our neighborhood Facebook page and new website;
- And monitoring of City Council and School Board issues and keeping you up-to-date.
